A New Year, A New Start

It has been a while since our last blog post. However, it is a New Year and a new year brings new beginnings. Here at Missouri Divorce Source, we have noticed that the start of the calendar year, through tax season, brings an increase in individuals inquiring about divorce. Perhaps it is the resolutions that come from a new year and a desire for a fresh start. Perhaps it is economic/financial issues that allow for the divorce because of anticipated tax returns. Within a couple of days, we will contact you to discuss the details of your situation and how best to assist. Once we understand your situation, and at least 50% of the fee is paid, we are able to start your divorce documents. They are generally ready for review within 1 -2 weeks. Once you and your spouse sign off on the necessary documents, we file the case with the Court. Thirty days later, we can ask to finalize the case, and a Court appearance should not be necessary. This explanation is a general overview of the process, and does not capture every situation that may arise, but is a good guide for an “agreed” divorce.
